BEC

Yoga Teacher

Rebecca discovered yoga whilst working in an unfulfilling job as a lawyer. Initially inspired by the tangible physical benefits, with time she noticed a mental shift too. It became clear to her that although many of us tick all the boxes in the material world, we do not take time to cultivate our internal world, so we feel a void. Yoga can give that spiritual fulfilment as a system of techniques. You don’t even have to excel at these techniques. Just keep showing up on the mat and using them, and you will see positive results. It soon became apparent to Rebecca that she should share yoga’s various benefits through teaching. She now has 1800+ hours of teacher training. Her 200 hour foundational training was with Power Living and she then undertook a further 500 hours at Body Mind Life, inspired in particular by the advanced sequencing and yoga philosophy courses. Rebecca’s classes are all about playfully testing limits. She uses her gymnastics background as a tool to gently encourage students to explore outside of their comfort zone. She is creative in her sequencing and joyful in her message, aiming to make her classes fun, educational and, at times, challenging….There is nothing quite like a well earned savasana!

JESS

Yoga Teacher

Jess discovered yoga as a way to find balance in her overstimulated life & soon realised that she wanted to help others feel the same way. Jess has a very warm, yet practical approach to yoga, making it accessible to everyone. Jess has been teaching since 2015, in both vinyasa and yin. She is particularly passionate about sharing yin with the world, as she believes we all need to slow down. Jess says, “Yoga gets me out of my head and back into the present moment. It settles the mind chatter, lifts the fog and helps me connect to the world greater than myself. When I practice regularly I am more confident and self assured, and I’m so glad it’s now part of my every day”

Obi’s first experience to yoga came about over 4 years ago at the One Big Heart studio, he instantly fell in love with the practice and all the amazing, knowledgeable teachers at One Big Heart. This sparked a deeper inquiry into his heart and decided to undertake his YTT with Power Living Australia for Vinyasa and Yin in 2021. Obi is so grateful to be able to hold space for students and to be teaching at the place that it all started is really a full circle moment. He is loving and grounded and is excited to both share knowledge and to learn from the beautiful and vibrant community of Camden.

ALANA

Yoga Teacher
Meet Alana, a woman who grew up in the South West of Sydney as a child, Alana struggled to fit into school and the structured environment that it provided. However, she found solace in the emotional outlets of dancing, piano, and drawing.

At the age of 16, she suffered two devastating losses – her best friend and her father. These losses led to destructive behavior and unhealthy relationships, but her passion for dance and art helped her to get through these tough times.

Alana became a dance teacher, but still felt unfulfilled. After being medicated and feeling numb she turned to yoga to help cope with the stresses of life.

It was during a teacher training course in Ubud that Alana’s life changed. She dived deeper into yoga studies, bodywork, anatomy, meridians, meditation, reiki, tarot, and many other spiritual practices. She discovered that yoga was the one thing that could hold her when no one else could.

Since then, Alana has continued to study and expand her knowledge in the field of yoga and spirituality. She is now a well-respected yoga teacher and has shared her heartfelt gift with the yoga community. Alana’s connection to spirit and her love of self are evident in all that she does, and her journey is an inspiration to others.
